Be Still

In a book I am reading about fulfilling God's purpose in my life, the author challenged the reader to sit silently for 6 minutes. At that moment, I did not sit quietly, but the thought has passed my mind a few times over the past few days.

But, right now, sitting in the hammock chair on the porch, I find myself listening. I was reading the Word, listening for God's wisdom and direction when I found myself listening to the sounds around me. The wind blowing, birds singing, cars in the distance, my husband sanding wood and then the one sweet voice that made me smile and my heart warm with peace; my daughter playing in the back yard saving the world from bad guys! It was that moment, hearing her sweet determined playful voice that I felt God's presence and a still quiet voice telling me to stop and listen.

There are times in our lives when we are uncertain, when we are searching for direction and God tells us we are right where we are suppose to be. That still small voice is saying, peace! Be still! You are right where I want you. Stop trying to save the world. Be who and where I have called you to be.

Thank you for clarity Lord!
